Abby's Super Weekend

On Thursday night at 9 o'clock I went to Robyn's house. The next morning I had to have breakfast. Then I got on the motorbike to go to move the mother cows with the baby cows. Then I had to go and move the bulls across the river into a middle size paddock. On Saturday I did some lamb tailing and on Sunday we did some more lambs. Then we did some painting. Then my famliy came, Daniel said "Can we go down to the river?" and Mum said "OK". Daniel found 4 trout. I wanted to take the boxes home because I made a house in them. I gave one to Daniel and I gave the little one to Emma, and I got the middle size box.

Flat Stanley

On Wednesday I took Flat Stanley home. I took him to Bruce's. I took him in the milking shed and he sat in my overalls. I took him on the motorbike to see if a cow had a calf. Jacinda came with me, then we went home and locked the cows in.

At home I had to get the eggs from the hens and we got one egg from them.
I went on my mountain bike. I have got three bikes. I was playing with Dad.

The Ross Chicks

Audrey brought her three chickens to show us. They are 3 days old. She has a lamp she puts in with them to keep them warm. She is hand rearing them. We might see them again at Pets Day. Thank you Audrey.

Authors Visit

Lydia and Sian, from Room 9, came to Room 4 this morning to read their penguin stories to us. Sian's was called Pinky The Penguin and Lydia's was called The Little Black Penguins Adventure. We think they might be famous authors one day. Watch out for them.

Ashlee

In the holidays we went to Puponga. We stayed in Anne’s sleep out. Dad almost stood on a big fat seal. Sam and I got to see it. The last night Sam and I had a spa bath. When it was lunchtime we went out for lunch. I had a healthy lunch. Sam and Dad didn’t have a healthy lunch. I got sausages and cucumbers in my meal. It was delicious. Sam and Dad had a wrap. We counted how many swans there were. There were 60. I knew because I counted them. There were a lot.
Dad caught a fish between his legs. It was funny when that happened. It was fun when we went in the spa bath. I liked it there because it was fun there. When Dad went to make the cockles spit out the sand we saw a dog, down the river. We knew its name. It was Peg. It was at Anne’s too. I patted it because I asked. It is a girl. I am lucky because they let me. I know them. They are nice. One is called Vicky. She is beautiful. They have a cat. It is cute and nice. I met lots of new people there. I like it there because everyone is nice. I saw one of my friends. Sam and I played with her. She is called Page. In the dark I thought that something grabbed my leg but it was a stick. I fell over a lot but Sam didn’t fall over a bit because she is used to it there. She is brave.
On Tuesday we left to go to Alana’s funeral. It was sad.

Toby

In the holidays I went to the Aquatic Centre. I met Spike. His name is Spike because he has spikes on his back.
Also my Mum is going to Japan. We are dropping her off at the airport. She is getting me a temgochi v 5 I am going on the computer with it. I am getting a dog for christmas. I am going to play with it. We are going to decorate the Christmas tree with decorations. I can't wait until Christmas comes. I am leaving the biggest present for last because it is the best one. I love the best one .

Ellie

In the holidays I played with my sister. We made a hut, and we put lots of stuff in the hut. Then we put a sheet on the top. Then we started to play. The hut was my room. My sister's bedroom was a big room. She was the Mum.

Caleb

In the holidays Dad, Mum, Jesse, Taine. and I went to Nana and Grandads. We all stayed at a Motel. before we went to this big wave pool. On the way there, we all got out of the car. Then went into the big wave pool. I jumped off the smallest board. Dad, Jesse, and I went on the hydroslide. Then Mum and Jesse went on the hydrorslide too. Dad, Jesse and I had lots of fun on the hydroslide.

Sebastian

In the holidays I went to Wellington and I went with my Mum and my sister and my brother. I went on the blue boat and I went on the playground and I went down the big slide and went over the big bump. I fell over on the ground. Then we got an icecream and I ate my icecream.

Abby

In the holidays I went scalloping. I was scared of the big bumps. I went with Mum and Dad and Daniel and Emma. We got 41 scallops. After scalloping we got in the bath and then had scallops for tea.
Daniel and I had a crunchie bar and Emma had an icicle pop. Then we went home. I got some other stuff for tea.

Bailey

On Saturday Brayden came for the night and played trains and there were heaps of crashes and then we went to bed and in the morning we played trains again and then Brayden went home and I had a sleep over at Brayden's and we played trains and we played walkie talkies and then we went to bed and in the morning we played trains and then I went home and went to my friends.

Hannah

In the holidays Daddy went to Wellington. He went to the rugby. Dad found a good mall and bought me something.
While Dad was away we went to the movies to see Ratatouille and I had a sleep over at Kezia's. We didn't get any sleep because we were talking all night.

Shania

In the holidays I went to Wellington with Tyrone and Mum. I went to the playground on the ferry. I went on the slide six times. It was fun because Kelly and Robbie were on the ferry with us. I kept moaning to Kelly if we could go to the movie. Robbie was being very silly with Tyrone.

We made podcasts for our puppet shows. We tried to have lots of expression in our voices.

At Music today with Mr Phillips we all got to play the new Ukuleles. We played and sang "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." We sounded awesome.

A Visit From TV 3

After play today a cameraman and a reporter from TV 3 visited Brightwater School to film about how we use The Loop. First of all they filmed us playing outside then we came into the classroom and got into groups for Maths. One group was watching a Clickview movie on the computer about subtraction. The Circles were playing Maths games on the Room 4 blog on the laptops or Guess Who or Connect Four. The Squares were working on the mat with Mrs Lines.
Arthur the cameraman did lots of filming. He was standing up on desks. He had a very big camera. Richard the reporter interviewed Mrs Gulbransen about how the Loop has made a difference to learning at our school.

Shania's Super Sunday

In the weekend Ashlee came to my house to have a sleepover. We talked all night. In the morning we got dressed so we could go to the snow. On the way there we saw some wild pigs and rabbits. When we were there Ashlee, Tyrone, Mason and I had a race on the steepest hill and I won because I went on the steepest part of the hill.

When we went home I opened my window. All the water splashed in. We got all wet. There was water in the car.

When we got home we played pig hunting. Tyrone kept quiting because Mason didn't play right. After we played it we went to have a drink and something to eat. Then Ashlee and Mason had to go home.

I got a rope and I tied it to the top of the ceiling, then I climbed up on a hay stack. I swung into the ditch then I climbed back out again. I kept doing it again and again. Then I went to have tea. We had mashed potato, broccoli and chips.

Bon Voyage Craig

Today we are going to the airport to fly to Shetland. We have to go on 6 planes. Last time I didn't sleep on the plane because I watched Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory.

It was sad to say farewell to Craig as he heads off to the other side of the world. We will be able to email him and he will be able to read about what we are up to on our blog.
We will miss you Craig.

Lead Kids Day

Yesterday I went to the PD Suite with Louis from Room 3, Isaac from Room 8 and Lydia from Room 9 for Lead Kids Day. There were kids and teachers from six other schools. When we got there Mrs Earle told us to find little lego people . When the others arrived Mrs Earle welcomed everybody. Then Mrs Earle told us to find our name tag with a sticker on it. On the stickers were our own names. Mrs Earle told us to find a group of people that had the same sticker on their name tag. We made some new friends. Mrs Earle said to plan our Animation on some paper. We took some photos of some toy people and animals. We had morning tea and we had little muffins, some cookies and a drink! After we had morning tea we carried on doing our animation! After we took the photos we put them on the computer. We used imovie to put the animation together so it goes fast! Mrs Gulbransen bought Subway for lunch and we had it outside. Then we had a little play. We went back into the PD room and finished our Animation, then we waited for the other groups to finish their Animation. Then we went back to class!! We had an awesome day.

In the weekend Samantha and I went to the movies with Mum. It was a work do. Sam and I went in the game room. One of the games said "Game Over." Samantha and I got our photo taken. We were not in time. Samantha's head was in the corner. I got the stickers. The sentence said , "Just do it."

Motocross

In the weekend I went to the Flat Track. When I got out of the car I got my gear on. When I was going to get my goggles on this boy said "Do you want to have a race?" I said "Yes."
My Dad started up my motorbike. Heard that the boys Dad had started up his motorbike so we got on our motorbikes and lined up. I thought that it was just me and the boy . But it was more than just me and the boy. All of the kids were racing. the boy's dad brought a flag for the starting line. When the boy's dad put the flag up we opened the throttle and we were off. Straight away I got in second place. I stayed in second place for a long time. The boy didn't get the jump. I got the jump. That is why I got in front. I won the race.

In the weekend I was really sick. I had to keep warm in my bed. Mum helped me keep warm but I kept coughing. Mum had to give me a Strepsil. I had a really big cough. It hurt my throat. Mum said "We ahve to drop off the girls." Then we went to the Telecom shop. We went to the $2 shop. I got a diary. Phoebe got a crown.

In the weekend. Dad Mum Jesse Taine and I went to the wave pool. Dad and I found a ball. Dad helped me practice doing my headers in the wave pool then we went home. I watched TV.

Today Brayden was experimenting with the wires and batteries and was really excited when he got the light to switch on and off with a switch.

Room 4 went to the Museum and McMillians Pottery. At McMillians we had lunch. After lunch we played tag and we saw a pig sleeping behind the fence. I touched the pig and loved it. We used clay and I made a basket. Then Mr McMillian showed us the wheel and the kilns.

Clayton did an experiment at home then he brought the things to school to share it with the class.

Clayton and Josh and Sebastian piled some sand up in the sandpit like a volcanoe.

Then they put a small container in the top of the pile. Clayton put some baking soda in the container. Sebastian put some green colouring in. Then Clayton tipped some vinegar in.

The mixture started to bubble and froth. It came up over the sides of the container and flowed down the sides of the volcanoe.

Why did it do this?

In the weekend Mum went on a train to Christchurch then she went to Greymouth on the Tranz Alpine train. When she came back from Greymouth she brought Buckaroo and I got all of the things on the horse and then I went to bed.

Gloop! Gloop! Gloop!

What fun we had today with our buddy class. We went up to Room 9 and made gloop. We put it inside balloons. It was very, very, messy. It was hard to get the gloop in the balloon. We all had very messy hands so didn't take many photos.
Here is the recipe if you want to try making Gloop at home.
You will need:
1 cup PVA glue
1/4 cup cold water
a few drops of food colouring or dye
1 tablespoon soap flakes
1/2 cup boiling water

Mix the cold water with the glue and food colouring in a bowl.
Melt the soap flakes in the boiling water in another bowl.
Pour the soapy liquid into the glue mixture and stir.
Have fun!

Sebastian's Holiday

On Thursday I went to Kaiteriteri with my whole family. We played mini golf. After that we played in the rock pools.
I found a starfish. After that went to get lunch. For lunch we had fish and chips.

Last weekend I went to the flat track. My Dad thought that my motorbike wasn't going all that well but it was just warming up. When I got on my motorbike I saw Jakey. He got his motorbike off the track.

Connor's New House

On Friday I went to Anna and Poppy's to stay one night. Then Anna took us to the new house. I went into my bed room. My beds were up. My bedroom is the biggest. We have a big lawn. We have got five chickens and one dog and fish.

I like playing with Bruce's dogs. Bruce's helper said "Do you want to come on the farm?" Bruce has a tractor and two motorbikes and they have a hay shed. I always go down there every day and I see Bruce's helper every day when I get home from school.

Welcome To Toby

We have a new boy in our class called Toby. He was born on the same day as Kevin and lives in Kevin's old house. He comes from Auckland. Before that he lived in England. We hope he has a fun time in Room 4.

In the holidays it was my brother's birthday. It was his 10th birthday. It was great fun. He got a basketball and a ball to to go with his basketball. He had cream cake.

Waimea Intermediate Band

This morning the band called Full Note from Waimea Intermediate came to perform in our hall. Reggie's brother Matt was playing the drums. Dayna and George were also in the band. They went to Brightwater School too. There were two more boys in the band, Mitch who used to go to Appleby School and Jonathon who went to Henley School. Room 3 and Room 4 got to get up and dance in our Pyjamas. Reggie got to have a little turn on the drums.

Yesterday we went to the snow at my friends bach. We had a snow fight and it was fun. The Mums and the Dads built the ramps and it was cold.

On Sunday I went to Smugglers. There was a cannon outside Smugglers. I had a cheeseburger and Thomas had a mini hotdog and Dad had mussels and Mum had mussels too. There was a sword in a bucket. Then I went home. At home Dad gave us a chocolate then I went to bed. When I woke up I had cocopops then I played on my PS2.

On Sunday I went to the snow. While we were driving on the hill we saw lots of snow. We saw lots of graders parked on the side of the road. When we went around the corner we saw snow. Shanee and I wanted to stop but Dad kept on the road. He kept driving through the snow then we hopped out into the snow for a play. Then we hopped into the car and we went to the shop to have a hot chocolate because we were cold. I put my hot chocolate on my foot.

Craig's Party

On Saturday it was my party. Connor, Carl , Hunter, Louis, Jimmy, and Seby and Oliver came to my party. First we played musical chairs then we played starwars with every body's light saber. Connor and Seby were the best Jedis in the Jedi battle. After we had a sausage sizzle. When we could smack the piniata, Olly smacked R2D2's leg off. Last we had the cake. It had Lego starwars figures on it.

Once upon a time there were five bats. There was a Mum, a Dad, two little bros' and a cat. They lived happily in the forest. One day they went on a vacation. They went swimming. When they went swimming one of the little boys broke his wing. Mum, Dad and the other boys took him to the hospital. His wing had to be in a bandage. Then they took him to bed at the hotel.

Cade wrote lots of words for story writing today so he got to play Simon Says with the class. He got the children to play their leg like a guitar. He had the book Simon Says for reading.

In the weekend I went to our bach in Takaka with my Dad and brother and my sister and my Mum. We went in our car along with the boat. On the way we saw the wooden statue, Scooby Doo. We saw a helipcopter .

On Friday four of us made some scones with Mrs Gulbransen for our class at Discovery Time. They were yummy. They looked like bread and they tasted like bread. They had cheese on them. We had them for morning tea with butter on them. They were delicious.

Hannah's Holiday

On Friday we went to Te Towaka to stay the night for three nights. It took 2 hours to get there. We went after school at 5 o'clock. It was late when we got there. Simo, Horley, Veronica and the baby Georgia, Serina and her baby brother Callum their Mum and Dad and my Mum and Dad all came but my sister could not come because she had to work.
When we got there we watched Cars. Serina had a shower, got into her jamas and brushed her teeth and went to bed. Since Serina went to bed everyone played buzz and had tea.When we were played buzz I was the yellow monkey. While I played buzz I ate my tea then I had a shower, brushed my teeth and went to bed.
Dad, Ruso, Serina and I went to French Pass to go fishing. I got the catch of the day of the day then we went to the house. Dad and I played tennis in the tennis court. It started to rain so I went inside to have lunch. I had an American hotdog. After that Serina and I played buzz. It was a draw.
When it was the day to come home I went to the wild pig farm in the morning. A pig bit me on my hand. Then it was time to leave. It was a lovely weekend.

Flat Colin Visits Jasmin's

Flat Colin came to my house.
When we got home I took Flat Colin t0 meet my rabbit, Thumper.

Flat Colin had a little ride on his back whilst he ate his afternoon tea.

Then I took Flat Colin on my swing whilst Mum made our afternoon tea.

I shared my biscuits with Colin and my parrot, Rumba.

When Dad came home from work Mum took me and Colin out on my new roller blades. It was fun.

Caitlyn's Flat Stanley Goes to Abby's

On Monday night Caitlyn's Flat Stanley had some dinner with me and I brushed his teeth too. He slept with me. In the morning he did his hair. I brought him back to school.

Caitlyn's Flat Stanley Goes Camping

It all started when I was going to the Teapot Valley camp because it was a church thing. It took one minute to get there. When we got there we all had breakfast and there were lots of tables, chairs and food. I had some ricies. After that Flat Stanley and I went outside. I saw Sophie on her bike. Then we went to the maize. We cheated we went under the boards to get out. Then we went to the playground. There were some x's on poles but not all of them. Some had an 0 for adult and a green tick means that yes you can go on that whenever you want. The maize had a green tick. Then it was sunset. Everyone went to tea. Then the show was on in the gym. It was 10 to 10 then it was time for Flat Stanley's and my favourite dance, Money Money, Money and a few other songs and dances. It was late, we were tired and the movie Cars was on. We slept in the awning of the caravan. In the morning we had breakfast then we painted our pottery animals. After lunch I went to the maize for the last time then we went home. Flat Stanley was very tired.

Caitlyn's Flat Stanley Goes Home With Alana

Last night I took Caitlyn's Flat Stanley home. I put him in my dolls pram. When it was time for tea he ate piggy, he stuffed the food in.
I forgot to bring him back to school so he will be sleeping on the breakfast bar. When I got home I bounced on the trampoline with him. He slept on the trundle bed under my bed.
I forgot him again!! I phoned Mum and she brought him to school on her way to Playcentre.

Today another Flat Stanley arrived in the mail. He come from Caitlyn in Room 4 at Stoke School. Stoke is not very far from Brightwater. We are going to have turns taking him home each night. He will have lots of adventures. We will write about some of them on our blog.

In the weekend I went to the rugby paddock. I went to Grandad and Grandma's. Grandad said "Do you want to stay?" We went to the shop. Grandad bought us an ice cream. After, we went over the hill. On the way home we saw a rat on the side of the road.

I went t0 the beach one day with Henry and Mum came too. Mum told me to be careful. I said t0 Mum "I will be careful Mum. I will look after Henry Mum." Henry had a Swim.

Today Fireman Paul came to our school and he taught us about fire and he showed us some smoke alarms. There were different kinds. One made a loud noise, one had a light as well as the loud noise and one vibrated. We are going to go home and check to see if we have a fire alarm.
