Class of 2012

This is the Room 2 class of 2012.
23 children, 11 girls and 12 boys.
We are going to have lots of fun learning and laughing together.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It has been raining all day at Brightwater. Our parents started to pick us up at morning tea time so we could make it home before the roads to our houses closed. When Mrs Robertson went home this afternoon the Room 1 children who were still here came into Room 2. All the classes from over the bridge had to come down to the hall as the creek was flooding.
Oliver read us a Santa story.

Healthy Lunch Day

We had a whole school shared healthy lunch day on Friday. We all brought something to share and had lunch with our buddy classes on the fron field. There were lots of yummy fillings for the rolls and crunchy apples to finish off with.

First Swim

Room 2 had their first swim of the season in the school pool after lunch today. The ten people who had their togs all said it was warm. Remember to bring your togs on Monday.

Pack The Bus

On Wednesday the More FM Pack The Bus came to Brightwater School. We all brought food, games, groceries and other things for people who do not have much at Christmas time.

Mail From The Other Side Of The World

Charlie was excited to receive some mail at school today. It was a reply, to the letter he sent, from his Granny in England. It only took  4 days to come all the way around the world.

Trent's Puppies Visit

 This morning Trent's mother brought three cute puppies to visit us in  Room 2. They are four weeks old now. When they were born they had their eyes closed and not much fur. At home they sleep in a cupboard. They have just started to eat mushed up weetbix.

Rugby Reading

Hamish and Harrison used Mrs Lines's iphone to update the Rugby World Cup scores.

World Cup Rugby Countries

On Friday we put all the countries that are playing
in the World Cup on slips of paper upside down on
a table. We each chose one and had to find out three
things about our country over the weekend.

Guess what Harrison's country was?
He made a model of a player in uniform and made a booklet with lots of information.

On Wednesday we were lucky to have Bronie Edwards in Room 2 for the day . She was taking part in Waimea College's Year 10 Work Watch Day. She helped us with our Three Little Pig collages, read us a story, came to our syndicate assembly, helped us with our work and played with us at lunchtime. We loved having her in Room 2.

Happy Fathers Day on PhotoPeach

Daffodil Day

Today some of us dressed up for Daffodil Day. We put our coins on the daffodil after we had counted the money in our room. We had $22.00 and some people had already put their money on the daffodil before school so we worked out we would of had more than $30.00. Lots of us know people who have cancer, have had cancer or who have died from cancer.
We hope the whole school has raised heaps of money to help the Cancer Society help families in the Nelson area.

Tennis

On Tuesday afternoons we go to tennis coaching with Ngaire for 30 minutes. We do downers and uppers. We make a ball roll around the racquet. Today we had to get into groups of four to play a game called Chimps and Champs. We had to serve by throwing the ball over arm to the other side of the net. If the person caught it after one bounce they threw it back underarm. Sometimes we threw too hard and the ball went out. We also played a game with a partner. One person threw the ball underarm and the other person held the racquet with one hand, stood at the net and had to smash the ball back to the thrower.

New Children

Next term we are going to have new children in Room 2. Five children are coming from Room 4. Today they came for a visit. We hope Aaron, Jack, Helena, Bailey and Claudia are going to have lots of fun in Room 2. We are also getting two new boys from other schools. Viliami and Hades will both start in Room 2 before the end of term. We welcome all of these pupils and their families to Room 2.

You've Got the Power Show

Today we went to the hall to see Elgregoe and Sue in the show. There were lots of magic tricks.  Elgrgoe made birds  appear and disappear.  He took Mrs Brook's watch and destroyed it in a box and then it appeared inside a little box that was inside lots of other boxes. The message for us was to respect, accept, encourage, trust, be fair and care for others. We have to keep our

Gooey Science

At Discovery Time this morning we made goo with cornflour and water.

If you want to make it, this is how we did it.
We put 2 cups of cornflour in a big bowl and added some blue food colouring. One person added 1 cup of water very slowly and the other person mushed the mixture with their hands.
We had lots of fun.

Good-Bye

Today was a sad day in Room 2 because we had to farewell two of our girls, Michaela and Bryer. Michaela has moved to Wakefield and Bryer is moving to Masterton. We will miss them both and we know they will quickly settle into their new schools.

Farewell Party

This morning we had a farewell party with Room 5 for Michaela and Max Sixtus who are leaving Brightwater School to go to Wakefield School. Michaela and Max's mother brought lots of yummy food for us and a great big enormous chocolate cake.

Room 2 ran the whole school assembly on Friday.  We performed 'Going to the Zoo', everyone thought we were fantastic!

Unsafe Places to Play

Some children went outside with the camera today and took photos of places they think are unsafe to play.

Ripper Rugby

This morning we went up the back field to do Ripper Rugby with Andrew Goodman. We learnt how to pass and catch. We played a game where we had to rip the tags off the other team and put them on our own belt. One team was the Crusaders and the other team was the Highlanders.

The Real Art Road Show was at Brightwater School today. We got to visit it with Room 1. We saw lots of different kinds of amazing art. The very large trailer is towed by a really big truck. Inside it was as big as our classroom.

Sign Language

This morning Corban read us a story while his Mum Melinda signed the story for us.The story was called Where is the Green Sheep. We thought Corban was very clever to read the whole story to the class and we thought Melinda was very clever to sign it. We all learnt how to sign - Here is a green sheep. Ask someone from Room 2 to show    you.

Today we had an Easter egg hunt in our classroom after lunch. It was fun and everyone found one. They were yummy.

Reading Eggs Certificates

Today we all printed off our certificates for our last map we completed on Reading eggs. Two people completed Map 10!! Our school won a subscription to Reading Eggs for a year for 90 children. We have all loved doing it. Thank you Reading Eggs.
